[Li.sup.+] transport in lithium sulfonylimide-oligo(ethylene oxide) ionic liquids and oligo(ethylene oxide) doped with LiTSFI
Article Abstract:
The [Li.sup.+] environment and transport in an ionic liquid (IL) comprised of [Li.sup.+] and an anion of bis(trifluoromethanesulfonyl)imide anion [(TFSI).sup.-] tethered to oligoethylene oxide (EO) (E[O.sub.12][TFSI.sup.-]/[Li.sup.+]) are determined and compared to those in a binary solution of the oligoethylene oxide with LiTFSI salt. The [Li.sup.+] diffusion in the E[O.sub.12][TFSI.sup.-]/[Li.sup.+] ILs is found to be limited by the [Li.sup.+] interchain hopping as opposed to local [Li.sup.+] relaxation comprised from [Li.sup.+] local motion along the chain, [Li.sup.+] motion together with its coordination shell.

Morphology of poly(ethylene oxide) dissolved in a room temperature ionic liquid: A small angle neutron scattering study
Article Abstract:
Solutions of deuterated poly(ethylene oxide) (d-PEO) in 1-butyl-3-methyl imidazolium tetrafluoroborate [bmim] [BF(sub 4)], a prototype room-temperature ionic liquid (RTIL), were studied at room temperature using small angle neutron scattering. The findings will help in optimizing the designing of microemulsions in these potentially environmentally friendly solvents.

Structure of aqueous solutions of ionic liquid 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate by small-angle neutron scattering
Article Abstract:
Small-angle neutron scattering is used for examining the structure of aqueous solutions of a prototype ionic liquid, the short alkyl chain 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate. The large concentration fluctuations and Kirkwood-Buff integral values have shown that the system is in the vicinity of phase separation.
